Yeah yeah yeah... I know. What kind of time do you call this to come crawling back to your blog young man, it's been months, its New Year's Eve, shouldn't you be out taking advantage of drunk people instead etc. I just haven't had a lot to say recently, and what I have been blathering about has mostly been contained to Flickr and a guest spot on Strawberry Singh's blog. Lucky for the poor people reading the feeds, eh? But I will always be a sucker for long hair and there's some glory out there right now. Since the advent of mesh more blessed designers are taking a chance on long locks for men, meaning that I don't have to molest my Maitreyas way past their point of blurred textures any more.

I have the joy of showing off three great new ones along with the Adam skin from Tableau Vivant. Unf unf unf all over these, and especially on browless skins for men, its about bloody time we got to be all high fashion too. They come in 16 tones and with the browed ones you can choose blonde, dark blonde and brown.

Bambi in Ethereal by Wasabi Pills, my long long established hair mecca. It's just wonderful to see how MissAllSunday Lemon's work has exploded all over the scene in these last few months. She has always made long male hair but now that she has mesh magic in her fingertips its getting totally amplified in awesomeness.

Clarus in Pinks by The Alice Project. Alice Demonia has been pushing herself hardcore and has released a mesh hair every day from the 22nd of December to the 1st of January. Some of these have even been for guys, and as soon as I saw Clarus I made it mine.

Andrej in Lapis by Exile. This one isn't mesh, this is Kavar Cleanslate just making a really great long hair that everyone gets to see and enjoy. He just released a terrific batch of male hair and if you don't dig the length then there's plenty of contemporary styles there too.

So just to wrap up 2011 and the incidentals - all eyes are from Fashism, YES I'm wearing lipstick with the pink hair and it's from R.Icielli, the nipple rings from Digital Dragon really did hurt like the blazes, I only just realised after shooting that I didn't get any pics of myself in the Clarus hair after I'd taken this terrific Ila corset from A:S:S off and oh yes for once I am actually wearing pants, they are just incredibly low cut.

So have a fantastic end to this shit of a year people. Be safe and have fun, dont drink and drive. Plus don't wake me up until at least the 3rd, I may have managed to arrange tickets to a music festival on that day and I'm planning on chucking a sickie from work to go.

Oh yeah... I have this blog, don't I?

One reason why my fashsplooges all over your page are so sporadic is because I keep getting caught up in other things; one of them that real life travesty - ugh. But also I had the great fortune to be in the Avenue Models 4th Anniversary Show this weekend which had the flavour of Steam. Creators were asked to take inspiration from the fascinating Steampunk culture and come up with their own intepretations set to modern couture.

I was supposed to be walking in this outfit but god bless SL and its myriad of technical issues, it sadly never made it to the end of the runway. Steam is hella cute as an ensemble, but its also very "pieceable" too. I love the cut of this jacket, and I'll be rocking these garter socks for a while.

THE INVENTOR by Ladies Who Lunch

Alas, I never got to wear this in the show as Clyde Saunders was the lucky model chosen to strut it - but I'm going to blog it anyways. Because I adore the creator Faint Paulse and DAMNIT she plurked that she was thinking of me when she made it! I'm loving these loonytoons goggles so much, as well as the gathered frock coat. These pants are superbly well made in mesh, and they come in several diff sizes. The buttons aren't really greenish, they are a beautiful bright brass but my shadows decided otherwise.

VELVET ELVIS CROW by Faster Pussycat

YES I was asked to style this as andro as I could, the style notes were for us to find our inner Andrej Pejic for this ensemble. Now my Andrej is never very far below the surface so I'll admit... I already had this lipstick before the stylecard came in. And these boots. And hair, and eyeliner... But! The outfit - its a lush bouncedy feathery explosion and I can totally see how it would be something that you'd choose to slip into after a grimy day working with cogs n' gears.

CHIMICO by Solidea Folies

I had to look the translation of this up. It means Chemist which is totally fitting for this - as all chemistry traces its way back to fire, and the reaction of elements as they burn. This outfit is gobsmackingly dramatic; what I couldn't get a decent enough pic of to show you was the stilts that this fire breather totters around on (and falls off runways with, but that's a different story) which sets this avatar height to over 11m high. This particular pose is built into the outfit and it's a custom by Del May. It also has the distinction of being the first male outfit that Mila Tatham has ever made, not that that has ever stopped me from wearing her stuff before.

These items are all available in each of these designer's mainstores and I have listed their slurls in the name of their outfit. I'm also throwing in a bonus shot of the build because god knows it could be months before I get another day off to blog, and my Koinup page is looking sad and neglected.

Just a quick one today, as I believe I have found the best facial hair in either world. Better even than the whiskers on Oscar Page's Mom.

It's from Birth. This is the new Thor skin. And this design is named Maori. I can't imagine how long this would take me to do.

And it would be a damn sight messier if I ever attempted it. The Thor skins feature a really interesting range of scrub, and come with different muscle tone and bodyhair options. I made sure that I wore the furriest for this blogpost to entice Elusyve back inworld.

Eyes are from Fashism, hair from No.07, jacket and pants from LaPointe and Bastchild. They have a far better waistline than this really, but Monica demands that every man that comes close has to edit their waistband to just above ball level.

MODAVIA FASHION WEEK 2011

Modavia Fashion Week is a yearly event that runs from September 8th through to the 15th. Sure, everything takes place at 3am my time, but I'm such a fanboi of this stuff that the indelible qwertyface is worth it. I was pulling my best Karl Lagerfeld on Saturday at the Ladies Who Lunch, Miamai and Glam Affair shows, then happily wandered the vast stretching arcades of delicious NEW AND SHINY for sale. These were my picks for the event so far.

I'm including all the mainstore slurls for these items so you can support the creators if you like what you see, but bear in mind that at the moment these items are only available at the Modavia sim.

Spiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes.

So mine Monica O took me to meet her friend Matchbook Monday of the jewellery store Amorous to watch me gape in wonder at the store build. Which I did, it's stunning. Even if right now it does smell like Zed Linden's pee. (Ask him, I'm keeping the offlines for extortion purposes.) I also fell in love with the astonishing wares, none more so that this UBERSPIKED set "Ave Satanas." Several drinks later, we decided that it was best blogged with me as a naked androgyne angel.

WHAT it made sense at the time. Plus my Mum likes to give me shit about how femme I've been looking on this blog recently, so hopefully this will blow her mind. Everyone wave to her please as she starts sending me another incredulous text message.

I gracefully let Monica take my pictures - I'm a real giver like that - as my monitor blew out last week and I'm using a crappy little 15" CRT from the mid 90's until payday. With the curvature of this thing it's like viewing life from a very dirty fishbowl. Let's face it though, my pics aren't a patch on hers anyways.

Amorous has several different styles of jewellery, from contemporary burnished steel piercings, cyber eyes and candy beaded necklaces to warm wooden bracelets and through to the best zodiac necklaces I have seen in either world. Bear in mind that Matchbook is working feverishly to fill her store so there's still some empty vendors, but the build alone is worth the trip.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was doing the pageant thing for BOSL's Mr Virtual World 2011. I totally loved it, and I'm both sad and a bit glad it's over. Booo for the only fashion challenges now being ones I give myself "Hmmmm..... does this prim crotch make my ass look big or not?" but it's also kind of nice not having to stay up till 5am on weekends. Don't get me wrong, I still totally do that but I just don't HAVE to.

I've been asked why did I choose Iceland and not my native Australia? Well come on, look at me. I burn walking past an open window, there's no way I'd survive for more then five minutes in the outback. I thought I'd leave the whole Akubra hat/Drizabone jacket/knifey spoony gig to someone who looked a bit less dayglo than I do. Plus if I was to go out in public at night time here dressed in my signature white on white with extra white then I'd have several beer bottles smashed over my head.

I wasn't one of the top five - congrats to Jax Aster of USA! - but I think I still managed to contribute something, even if it was just making the announcers choke when I started my bootie pop in the swimsuit section. Complete with real hand drawn wedgie and epic schlong shading on the thong. Can you believe that several hours beforehand I was looking classy and relatively normal in a wetsuit until I started talking to Jori Watler?

For the Formalwear section, I wanted to stay true to my chosen land. Some research turned up a bloody marvel - an Israeli/Australian designer who now lives in Iceland named Sruli Recht. He works with materials native to the region - horse and reindeer leather, the wool of stillborn lambs, whole seagull carcasses and... umm... minke whale foreskin. I took his aesthetic to my poor beleagered employer and friend, Monica Outlander of Miamai and she created this wonder of a coat. Which will be released later on. Yep, I bet you hate it when I do that. Don't think this means I'll stop though.

At the end of it all I had a damn good time, and learnt a lot of things - espesh from the mindblowing styling skills of my competitors - as well as making some new friends. Plus it was cool to see how far I could get just by being me, pale loud goofy clumsy ME. Now pardon me all, I have to go get the pliers out and try drag my fangs back down into place.

So I'm one of the 20 male models in SL currently trying to prove that they are really really really ridiculously good looking in the BOSL Mr Virtual World 2011 competition - yep, I'm Mr Iceland of course. (Transylvania was voted out of contention by the Russian judges... curse them.) I'm loving it so far - style challenges every other week WOOOOOO! - and this time it was avant garde. Which if you know me at all is really the only way I bother getting dressed in SL...

I spent several days trying to make something all spikedy and geometric, and you will see this at a later date - swear. But things evolved as they often do when your fairy godmother Monica is a bit of a creative genius, and I ended up looking as if I'd made good on my promise last month to molest Frolic's peacocks. It's okay - it's a far more fulfilling life for them as FASHION anyway.

What I'm loving on in this post - the cape is called Magus, it's by Miamai and it's not out yet sorreeeeee but the Lenoire hair is, and it's available at Hair Fair until the 15th of July. Be aware that I've modded it a fair bit though, there's meant to be some girly stuff on top. I'm still mad about my Vincent skin from Tableau Vivant, this is the January tone and I also got my Claw Pants from there too. Nuuna Nitely makes wonderful bold makeups and I'm layering several of them here, most of them from her new Version 8 makeup pack. My Taped Guts are from Sinistyle and the Sequinned Leggings are from Fishy Strawberry. Just out of view - the huge and inventive stream of cursewords from when I crashed two minutes before showtime.

I have no idea what the end results of the styling competition were, they may have announced it but I was too busy trying to untangle Winter Junior from the sequinned tights. It's also a mad giggle watching the audience wake up when the very blindingly pale man appears on the runway after the Costa Rican guy and tries to convince them that dead with shitloads of guyliner can be beautiful too.

Vincent's Price

So I have a fairly ironclad rule of never logging in before work/getting the kids to school.

But. When Aida Ewing and M4ri1yn Magic of the new label Tableau Vivant release an incredible new skin named Vincent that all the fashionistos are parading on plurk... then it's okay to just push the offspring out of the car to the classroom when I've slowed down to about 20kph or so, right? *

This skin... I'm in love. It has no less than 12 body tones, ranging from this amazingly vampy pale right up to a drow black and stopping at all the conceivable tones of flesh in between. My faves are October which is this deep chocolate above, April for every day wear which is the one I'm wearing with the Blue Spray makeup and also this gorgeous burnished bronze November which I've never seen in a skin before.

This is just a small taste of the tones; the graduations between each month are subtle yet defining and there's going to be at least one in the right shade for you. They are only 990l each and you get bald and hairbase in each pack, so it's terrific value. There is also a great range of add ons available like complementary makeups, beards and teeth.

It was supposed to be me in this bloody fantastic new White Death armour from a store that I love, Wasabi Pills. And I was going to be fighting - well - myself in Khalon armour, one that was by MissAllSunday Lemon released a few months ago. It doesn't really need fancy photography though. Look how great it is. Just go get it. And if you only want the horns, then they'll be available seperately soon too.

Most of you probably know that I'm the marketing guy for Miamai by now, right? I always try to keep that work - which is barely work because I LOVE IT - off my own blog as I like to think that I provide an unbiased view of menstuff that I consider to be awesome. Consider this a disclaimer. But. I was the completely dumbstruck recipient of a BOSL Awards nomination for "Best New Model" (which Rissa Friller deservedly won) and you can't rock up at something like that in off the rack, can you? So I asked Monica (okay whined at her incessantly) if she could make something epic for us to wear to the event, and I told her about my love for the creations of Haider Ackermann. He's a Belgian designer that is simply the master of drapery, and I heart his work so hard. Moni had a look and took her own special view of his style and turned it into something that had me weak at the knees.

She knows just what I love, and so she sprinkled it liberally with high fashion spikes, sparkly black diamonds and a Gagaesque crown. Because me constantly wearing the last one she made pissed off Elusye so much.

It's going to be released in the Miamai store under the Black Label marque on the 30th of April - this weekend - and it's named Spellbound, so look out for it. I'm also in the Olja hair from LeLutKa and my beloved Brent skin from CheerNo.

The good news for the ladies is that Monica created a companion piece for herself to wear by my side, this is the breathtakingly daring Rapt.

She didn't know I was going to blog her, she thought I was just taking vendor shots. So be kind and everyone tell her how pretty she looks, please.

She is also wearing the Monica skin by Glam Affair that was named for her, and you can see almost all of it in these pics. This is also the new LeLutKa hair called SJ which is the one they released the other day that WASN'T the one on every second blog.

I promise this wasn't just one big ad for my boss, I freakin' LOVED these two designs and I would have blogged them no matter who made them, I swear. And just to finish this off I'm going to show you the emerging morphing talent of Strawberry Singh. She really wants you to ask her to make these kinds of pics, she does. Plus she threatened to kill me if I dared to post her backfired revenge.

This was my lust have item of today;. I have to go to work soon for my LAST NIGHT SHIFT EVER so I'm throwing this at you fastball style.

This is Vladimir by Mayden Couture, available only at the headquarters for the Claim The Fame project by Kult Magazine. It's being filled each week with imaginative new creations from upcoming designers and the best part is that there is just as much for the guys as the girls.

I bought a few things like a gorgeous purple velvet suit and a Cthulthu av - tentacles are a well documented weakness of mine, what can I say? - and I'll be revisiting every week to see if there is anything even better then this to blog.

I haven't battled in SL for ages - might break a nail or something, yanno? There's no need to worry about my manlycure any more though. I have been slathering over this gauntlet and bracer set, the "Redemption : Hands Of Fate" by [TCR] on Marketplace for a while now. They are CCS Enhanced with extra melee attack points, a built in curse that slows your opponent and is very low lag in a fighting situation.

But most importantly....

They are simply beautiful.

I love that in SL there is no need to sacrifice form for function.

I've also been wanting to blog this C-001 Military Style Sci-Fi Suit by Vanilla C Designs for a while also, I'm loving all over the figure hugging suppleness of this leather. I've bought a few of Vanilla's gothic style suits and when she released this I was quite happily surprised. She sent me a notecard asking if I'd like a review copy, but I'd already bought it a week earlier. Can't get a more genuine endorsement than that, can you? It also comes in a femme version ladies, and it's just as hot. I'm also wearing a facial tattoo from White Widow named Sun, I was lucky enough to win a giftcard to the lovely Julie Hasting's wonderful store a couple of months ago and I walked out with almost the entire inventory.... and still wanted more.

I'm finishing off with mine most beloved Brent skin by CheerNo, Apocalypse X hair from _ZION_ and eyes named The Hunger - Satiated by Insufferable Dastard.

Okay so I also tossed up the idea of "Butane Balls" and "Flame Tits" but you get the general idea. When Faint Paulse of Ladies Who Lunch passed me her new items last week for the Little Big Shop Event (more on that in a bit) I did my usual thing of gibbering all over her in embarrassing fanboi glee and then wondered how the hell I was gonna make them work. It was going to take all my mad powers of styling - and yep that was it, that was the genesis of this look right there. The REAL fun part came in when I got to beat up Ronald McDonald for his shoes.

Seriously; do you have any idea of how hard it is to find a great sculpted cape in SL? I looked for a WEEK. And you may also notice with this entry that my pictures suck a little less than usual, that's because I'm now running a great new 2gig graphics card that made my computer quiver in fear when I waved the thing threateningly at it. So yay for shadows and a decent resolution FINALLY.

So to what I'm wearing.

The Combustible Brassiere - or in this case MANSSIERE - is also available in Monsoon and was created for the Little Big Shop event; this is a fundraising event to help provide water to people living in India and Africa where just one single dollar can give a child clean drinking water for an entire year. This TLBSE is also helping locally within SL; it's a programme where larger established stores can help mentor small new ones to develop their skills and networking/marketing knowledge. It opened on the 15th of April and runs right through to the 15th of May and its worth a visit if for no other reason than to admire the specially created artwork by some of SL's most creative minds.

Just an ultra quick reminder that Menswear Fashion Week starts today - I managed to get in for a few minutes today and was instantly attracted to these vibrant suits by Shiki like a bee to .. well, you can see for yourself.

There isn't a great deal of joy to be had at the moment but I dare you to wear something like this and not smile. I also grabbed these glasses from the Adjunct stall, and my platonic shoecrush Gos managed to make my RL glasses but better. A Second Glance

So this here blog o' mine was nominated for one of the Glance Fashion Awards for "Best Indy Male Fashion Blog"- THANK YOU! They were originally due to be held last weekend but due to a vastly amusing array of technical errors the original ceremony/televising was put off till this weekend. (Amusing to the partygoers anyways, probably more of a nightmare to the Glance staff - love your work.) In Cold Blood was up against some frighteningly talented guys such as Carthalis, Bronson, Ryan and James, Till and Laika of The SLipsters who quite deservedly won. This vampire was quite happy to just go along for the ride and the people watching... and by that I mean totally Blackwelling everyone in IM with Irving Daschund of SN@TCH. But it's anathema to a guy with my inventory size to be seen in public wearing the same thing twice, so I had to mix it up for the second week. First week's personal red carpet manifesto was "Dark Elegance."

Here I'm wearing the Couture Tuxedo from LaPointe and Bastchild with the Brent skin from CheerNo and Reject hair from rQ. I'm also having a hard time trying to NOT wear the Connor Prim Gloves from Miamai every single day, and to add some interest I bought the Duke Orellana Silk Cape from Los Texanos Beaux Arts and modded it up a bit to my taste.

For the second week? I just thought WHAT THE HELL and totally went Winter Jefferson.

If you didn't know I was a total Lady Gaga fan by now then this is the first time you've come across my blog, and then hai, be aware of the occasional F bomb, and yes that is mostly women's clothing I'm wearing. But when Faint Paulse of Ladies Who Lunch released the Bad Romance coat for Chic Limited then I was all over it in nanoseconds. I'm upping the floof factor with the Irene hair from Boudoir, and wearing the Archelon necklace and piercings from Mandala. My make up is a custom from Miamai - sorry - but again I have on the Connor gloves, and also wearing the top from her Hine leggings as my belt. Pants are the Noxious Leggings from Osakki and it's all finished off with the Strapped Boots from my new boot obsession store, *LightStar*

And of course this is being posted just a few hours after Gaga released her video for "Born This Way." If you don't hear from me for a while don't worry; I'll just be camping on Faint's doorstep whining at her for shoulder implants and a full body skeleton tattoo.

I'd heard of the menswear store Guarded Cross before, and I'd wandered in once before being distracted and getting yoinked away for some obscure reason... I think it was my kids playing with matches, or something equally unimportant... but it's not often that I'll buy casuals. My SL is all about the DRAMA BABY. But the other day I was in a multi designer fashion show hosted by the new agency Pasarella and I was handed two outfits by the designer Ryosukito Felisimo to style up and model. I tried them on, and I can genuinely say that I was astonished by the quality of the workmanship involved. Seamless, great texturing and interesting patterns and cuts. So much so that afterwards I went and bought up a whole stack more of his store.

And I'm highlighting Guarded Cross today for more than one reason. YES the clothes are made of several shades of awesome and you need them in your life, but also I did really bad in the show... heh... and I think I kinda owe him. Ryosukito took an unofficial video of the show which I've embedded here, and if you look at the 1:00 mark you can see where lag sends me into the laps of the front row.

Luckily I looked damn good. Oh yeah I'm calling it as such, haters to the left. The Shaman Of Geometry

So I'm one of those people who does heaps of different things in SL, none of them particularly well if I have to admit it. Hey - if you've seen the pics on this blog, then you know what I'm talking about. Asides blogging I also fall off the ends of runways with style and grace occasionally. Yep; I'm a wannabe Zoolander. So when I saw a modelling competition hosted by Opium recently named the "I AM FIERCE WALKOFF" then there was no stopping me from working up my best Blue Steel. We were given total freedom to style and choreo ourselves, and this is what I ended up strutting in.

Luckily the judges also thought I was somewhat fierce; even after I submitted the wankiest outfit inspiration statement in the history of both worlds. I swear; I did NOT know it was going to be read out...

"I decided upon the theme of "Shaman of Geometry" and explored the physics and aesthetics of form. I discovered what happens when you combine it with the absolute purity of dark and light. Then I added lashings of sexual energy, poured it all into this performance... and I ribbed it for your pleasure."

I'm pretty sure that the audience's groans could be heard from space.

I'll be doing a proper review of it here in the next few days; but you are looking at my newest skin obsession, "Brent" by CheerNo. I'm wearing "Lux" in Skunk by MADesigns hair; "Bardot" eyeliner - yes I said eyeliner - by Kyoot @ Kozmetika; "Archelon" piercings by Rozoregalia; "Macabre Warrior" shoulder armour by LeLutKa. The white shrug is a custom from Miamai - sorry - but you can find these "Marcus" prim gloves there now. Bottom half I have the "Punk Not Dead X2" belt from N-Creation slithering down over my "Maya Pants" in Black and "Iveeyyyyyy omg can you please make these in white too pleeease?" from SN@TCH halfway hidden by the "Pirate Thigh Boots" by *LightStar* finishing with the "BlackBalled" spinal installation from El Jefe!

I had an absolute ball in this comp and if you are an aspiring model (or just a total attention hoar like I am) then you should go for the next quarterly Walkoff in April. But make sure that you take your own Monica Outlander or Honour McMillan to keep you sane too. Thanks ladies!

Early in November I stumbled across pics of the new super super androgynous aussie model Andrej Pejic and plurked them, and quite a few of the ladies on my plurkline - Grazia espesh, MWAH - insisted that it looked as if Winter had escaped from SL. I wasn't so sure myself until last week when I found the new Mascarade skin release, Raphael. I own a few of their skins but this one was an instant fatpack fave. This is the homme line, there's also a femme line with the exact same makeups named Chou which Elusyve blogged here. (She's having major issues with the fact that I'm prettier than her, but you'd think she's be used to it by now, AMIRITE?) I was inspired to attempt my own Pejic style editorial shoot. And by editorial I mean "My attempts at artistic lighting in absence of photoshop." Feel free to be a bit disturbed.

Yes; incredibly well made RP clothes for men. They do exist. Many thanks go to Vasean Talamasca for dragging me to Zaige Lumiere, a brand new label over a year in the making from an old time player. Every prim is perfectly placed, each texture is unique, there's a broad range of colours available for each outfit, and each ensemble comes with a shit ton of options inside the box. It took me as long to decide what configuration I was going to wear them in as this post did to shoot.

There's a great selection of complete ensembles - including boots - for Masters, Kajiru and even a few barely there outfits for the Seelie folk. I bypassed the silks because I decided that you have all seen enough of my buttcrack for the moment. Cherish these moments of thoughtfulness guys; I don't have them often.

And no matter what I do, I can't enable shadows in SL. Do you realise how embarrassing that is for a vampire? That's supposed to be our prime skulking territory.

And also because I finally scrambled my way back here to my blog after computer problems, graphics problems and just generally a lack of blogging mojo. Yes; I know everyone has already done this hair, and then moved on to the new Clawtooth. Yet here I am today - and not wearing it in white - showing it with these perfect leather pants.

Tattoo layer hairbases are completely awesome. Especially now that a few enlightened creators are making them in white. I wear mohawks a lot, in case you've never seen my blog before. And a lot of times I like to mainstream these up a bit and go fauxhawk by softening the look with a white base.

Then there's days when I just want to admire the light bouncing off my pale skull.

I'm also still utterly in love with this Josh teeth skin by Kento. I now also own so many different colour change options of the Gos Docs that I'm in danger of bringing down every sim I port into.

I've been lacking inspiration to blog recently; not counting the uberquick skin splooge before this entry I haven't been "feeling it" for weeks. I've hella been busy with some magazine and modelling projects; but every time I opened up this blogpage it was just a case of us staring at each other blankly. Till two things happened; the Zhang Yimou wuxia movie Hero was on TV the other night, and the next day I came across Ocean Blackthorne's Flickr stream.

I can't come anywhere near this guy's general amazingness but I took inspiration from his work, the fact that Bare Rose turns 5 this weekend - Congratulations June, Tori and your team! - and the katanas that I bought recently and haven't yet had a chance to blood. So this is my spin on the wuxia zeitgeist.

Body Shots Part Deux

Around six weeks ago I threw a few of my recent skin purchases at you. As I said then, I'm a total skin hor and I was thinking I might make this a regular thing - round up some of the men's releases that have come out in the past coupla months or so. I won't have all of them, as quite a lot of skins look like ASS on me, but I'll throw some pics up and mention others that I've come across. Whaddya say?

I was handed these new ones the other day, Devon by Mystere. These skins are a collaboration between Lorac Forella of Pulse, and Raven Pennyfeather of House of RFyre, and available at both these store locations. I've loved Pulse skins for a long time so I was stoked to see these. You can see Lorac's well created features and Raven's dark and dramatic aesthetic in the makeups, there's eight of these over two tones of skin. I really like them; I've been wearing this everywhere for several days now and have gotten a whole heap of compliments. Top shelf gothic skins are rare, but these totally bring it. They also have a new.... "feature" which I've never seen on a skin before, but I am SO not showing pics of it on the feed - sorry Bronson, I chickened out! All I can say is make sure you grab the demos then have a really close look at the body. All of it.

This next skin isn't brand new to SL, it was released around six weeks ago. This is Tyson from Redgrave. I saw it pop up on the feeds, and admired it from afar. Yesterday I finally remembered that I wanted to demo it. Mrs Jefferson was watching over my left shoulder and squealed when I tried it on, and said that it was a MUST. I had to agree. Later on I figured out with the help of friends that she wants me to be the Old Spice guy. This must be why she threw out my lady scented bodywash, eh? I've never seen such a beautifully shaded dark skin before, and I own quite a few. This musculature is quite aggressive, the veins and cords in the arms pop and you can see every last twitching corpuscle in the abdomen area. 's 3 skin tones, and eight facial/body hair options. Tyson is all man and according to my sources he's as sexy as hell. Those sources being The Spouse, Plurk, and I'll find out what the lovely ladies at the Woodvale Book Exchange think later.

Now this one is extra special. This is Dragos by SubDermal. I saw Narcisa, the femme version of these appear on Xstreet a few weeks ago, and kept my fingers crossed for a male. WIN! I'll admit now - I never watched a single ep of Buffy The Vampire Slayer in my whole life. But I instantly recognised the face as being an homage to my kin on that show, and the creator Wiggy Bingyi confirmed that when I landed on his head at his store yesterday. This pic's format is a little different; as I had to show you the two different configurations that you get when you buy each skin. The first pleasant face is Dragos Daywalker, and he comes with differing facial hair and scalp/hairbase options. The second face is Dragos Nightstalker. Brilliant. This is pretty much the best vampire RP skin I've seen in a very long time. You can see from the torso shot that all the attention on the face doesn't mean that the body has been left neglected, this is a properly designed body as well. Between Narcisa and Dragos these have taken a year to make. and it shows in every seamless curve of these skins. I mean... it takes some serious talent to make this face look ugly, amirite?

There was a few more manskins released this month. Zoobong have come out with Ocean v2. It's a really easily wearable face, great for everyday. The body is a little more stylised this time around, less rugged and ripped than their previous releases. It's especially worth looking at if you are blonde, and there's currently two tones - Pina Colada and Calimocha.

Sacred/Valiant have a new one as well, it features a handsome masculine face and full muscles, yet is quite softly drawn. It's best for darker haired gents in my opinion, but if you go check out the demos and answer a survey question from a vendor there you get a free version as a thank you. And a free skin is always better than a demo.

The Abyss skins are an institution in SL, I remember when they were the choice of all the male nekos of the grid. Which at that time meant 97% of the population. They are still relevant and have had some great releases in the past few months with their lines Dave Gears and Adam Crius, and this past month brought out a new seasoned warrior inspired line. These are a bit of a shock when you try them on, as they are ultrarealistic - more so than anything I've seen yet. I'll admit, I was not able to make them work with my shape, and I don't ever buy the suggested shapes from the stores themselves. BUT they are well worth checking out. Just because they didn't work for me, I'm sure thsat there's a lot of guys out there that can rock them, and rock them hard. They come in four tones, each named after the seasons, and two faces - an everyday man and a scarred one.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but if I've missed any feel free to hit me up in the comments or inworld. I try on all of them whether I get them or not, and I love discovering new stores that I don't already have the full inventory of. Next installment in six weeks or so then, eh?

So ever since Nuuna Nitely released her black concept skins for the ladies, I've been moaning on her plurk that the men need this yumminess too. Totally unlike me to hassle a creator for guy stuff, right? Today she released them - YAY! - and I grabbed those skins faster than Mad Mel can put on a white pillowcase hat. I love them all, but today I felt like mixing up a hornetdemon kind of LOTD around the yellow one, raiding only my existing inventory but modding the living daylights out of a few choice items. And only now, as I write this... do I realise that the horns fell off my head when I put my fangs on. And I never noticed.

Shit.

I've been dreadfully lazy recently with the way I blog, I'll admit. It's way too easy to just jump in the sphere, pull a few Blue Steels, snap, edit and regurgitate pictures for your viewing pleasure. But Cajsa Lillehook's recent International Fashion Week entries on It's Only Fashion have been showcasing some of the most gorgeous builds around SL, and I felt the bug to go out and take a real picture of my waspmonster look. I found this sim in an ancient and eldritch vampire way... okay, I hit the search tab and looked at the Editor's Picks. This is "The Next Day," a hypermodern RP metropolis. Thanks for the inspiration Caj, I needed a kick up the arse creatively. <3

Scarily, I already had all these items. I couldn't pull the pants up to just under my armpits, so it's not as realistic as it should be.

Oh, who am I kidding. We all know that I'm going to be rocking a combover, and still attempting to stuff my drooping tackle into the tightest leather pants I can worm my way into.... buying drinks and smiling hopefully and desperately at all the eighteen year olds at the nightclubs.

If you know me even a little bit, then you know that fantasy and character skins are my biggest weakness of all. Yes; even more so than elves. So each year I look forward with glee to the Harajukubox Skin Faire and it's limited edition skins. Some of the brightest jewels in my inventory have been picked up at these events, and this year is no different. There are normal skins as well for both male and female, but my favourite skin this year was Asura by Yukio Ida of [Gauze], formerly known as Illuminati.

It's really rare that I buy skin fatpacks. But I had to own all three of these, no matter how helpful Gidge and Cajsa were in the half hour I spent whimpering trying to decide which one.

I upped the contrast a few notches as I do on almost all of my pictures; but I can assure you that these are just as irridescent inworld. Of course they come in female as well, and there are some really interesting items out for both the men and the women as well as a lucky board with a girlskin attracting a lot of people. The Harajukubox Skin Faire runs from the 10th till the 17th of July; and as I mentioned most of the items there are fair exclusives and will never be available again after this date. So yeah, hara up.

UPDATE: There's now also a male skin on the lucky board, it's a Joker Face skin by Riku Yifu of Visual Haiku. Even more reason to go now, eh?

So everyone knows what I look like - white hair, pale skin, fangs, yeah yeah yeah. That doesn't mean that I always do though. I freakin' love getting new skins no matter how they come, and a quality new men's release has me burning tracks to whichever store they are hiding in. Here's three wonderfully different skins that I've picked up in the last fortnight. Not the only ones, sure... it's only an addiction when you feel as if you should stop.

I first came across Ispachi when Strawberry Singh featured them on her blog. I didn't talk to her for a good hour or so for holding out on me but even after that it took me a couple of days to get down to the store. I hated the skin at first. Tweaked my lips a bit. Then went on a mad buying frenzy. And refused to put clothes over this gloriousness for at least three days. (You'd think that meant I didn't leave home, eh? Heh...) This is the Fighter skin in Trey Pale. There's some really interesting options, from dark dramatic eye shading to football player's lampblack. Great value, too.

This is Zwei Star 08 by Lantern Evolution. I've known Lantern Oyen's work in the past via a badass jawbone mask a friend gifted me, and checked out his cosplay items too. Yesterday I found these demos on Xstreet. Lantern mentioned that they are 100% hand drawn, no images used at all. I am still stunned at how well made they are - this is laid over my usual shape, and it looks completely young japanese due to the skill in the shading, the brows and especially the eye areas. These come in a choice of three tones, four eyelid options and two lip shapes as well as each skin being available in a scarred version. There was also a totally innovative inclusion in the pack - you get a set of prim eyelids perfectly matched to the skin so you can take closed eye/sleeping photos easily without trying twenty seven times to get that moment of *blink* exactly right. I am so in love with this skin, ask my poor shopping companion who had me busting ninja moves all over her today.

MiaSnow Myriam of MiaSnow has been responsible for some of the most creative skins in SL - remember a couple of years ago when her Inu Dalmation skins roared across the grid and stole supremacy from the Nekos? She had a male release around the same time named Hot Rod, and based a few variations off that - like Drow, and Zombie. This is one of her completely new line, Adam. She was adorable enough to send them over to me, but I was especially drawn to this one. There aren't many good male redhead skins on the market and this one is so well done. If this isn't your thing there are tones from goth through tan and into black drow. They feature this realistic facial hair, well drawn brows and are quirkily rocking the whole MiaSnow look. As a bonus she also has a mad sale on her store at the moment so you should totally check them out.

So three diverse male skins all acquired in the last two weeks, and all with different yet gorgeous aesthetics. So there's a long way to go before we catch up anywhere near the girls, but seriously - it's time to stop complaining that there's only three male skin makers in SL.

Arlene flashed the stranger a dazzlingly flirtatious smile as he settled in front of her, noticing the way he arranged his jacket carefully as he sat on the stool at Merlotte's Bar and Grill. "Time to hoik up the girls a bit more, Ah think ah could get some good tips out of this one" she thought as she put down the pickle jar. The smile dropped off her face rapidly as he returned her friendly grin with a mouth that looked as if it had been torn out of a Great White. He nodded, and pushed the snow white fringe out of his eyes as he pointed at the display behind the bar "I'd love a bottle of B neg please, pretty lady." Arlene was stuck halfway between a scowl and a simper at the sound of his accent - English, she thought? - and covered her annoyance at being flustered by humphing her way over to the microwave, then slamming the door shut on the bottle of Trublood. The Australian vampire chuckled quietly to himself as she stalked her way into the kitchen as the microwave pinged. He listened to her ranting about "One more o' them dirty bloodsuckers to deal with!" as a large dark man in full makeup leant over the countertop and assessed him. LaFayette slowly scanned the foreign vampire up and down and mentally added up the cost of his fashionable clothing. He then murmured with audible hunger in his voice "Mhmmm baby...." and licked his lips - which caused the stranger at the bar who was afraid of nothing except angry husbands and synthetic fabrics to widen his pale blue eyes in alarm.

After the bottle had been slopped begrudgingly onto a coaster in front of him, the Lord Winter Jefferson took a tentative sip - he'd heard so much about it from his kind who had travelled to lands where vampires were attempting to join the mainstream. He instantly turned ashen , then reached out desperately for an empty glass - bottle- anything to discreetly spit the liquid abomination into. "Oh sweet Jesus - what the blue fuck IS that? It's worse than decaf!" The young waitress that was wandering around stopped by him and patted him on the back in sympathy as he dry retched. He straightened up with a groan that turned into a "Ohhhhhh fuuuuu - uhhh - hello there!" as he noticed how attractive she was, despite the gap between her front teeth. She blinked at him prettily yet blankly then launched off on some long excited babble about some guy named Beeeeelll.... which the vampire half heard before his eyes started glazing over. There's several ways to make a woman stop talking, but Winter prefers the one method- and he dipped the blonde back and silenced her with a deep kiss, in the back of his mind vaguely noticing that she tasted like pecan pie. The waitress struggled against him squawking at first but soon melted into his arms, wrapping her tongue around his fangs and running her hand down to fondle his ass with a passion that surprised him.

In the corner of his eye he noticed a dark blur and heard a roar of "Sookeh is MIIIIIINE!" as he was slammed across the room, smashing into the mirror behind the bar. Winter picked himself up and turned to face his attacker with a vicious snarl, eyes flaring red - he had been taken by surprise, but that momentary weakness was now gone. He roared as he threw the other vampire up against the wall with lightning speed, splinters of brick showering the frightened humans in the bar. (Who still seem to be not used to this sort of thing, which is kinda bizarre when you think about what's happened in this town over the last two years...) Winter held the other vampire by his jaw, and snarled into his face with gritted fangs "I don't care what you think is yours. They don't call me a spoiled brat for nothing... if I decide I like it, then it's MINE. Understand?" Bill growled something incoherent involving the words sheriff and bloodright, but he choked it off with bulging eyes as the Elder vampire tightened his grip – this time using his other hand on his testes. Winter leaned in close, and added in a conversational tone "By the way.... sideburns? Still? Bitch, please." He dropped Compton, slung the tittering Sookie over his shoulder and strolled casually out the bar, pausing only to kick the dog that had suddenly appeared snarling at him, punting it clear across the car park.

The hush in Merlotte's turned into a disturbed murmuring as the barflies crawled out from under the tables they had all dived under. One by one they all turned to look at Bill who was still on his knees whimpering and clutching his groin, none offering to help him up. “Sookeh....” A good twenty minutes passed then the door slammed back open and Lord Winter walked back through, dragging the pouting waitress with him. “Frankly, mate – no idea what you see in her. She never shuts up, she doesn't listen and people drop dead like flies around her. She also kept going on about trying to read my mind but not seeing anything but Lady Gaga videos played on repeat. So I missed the RFL Clothing Fair in March, but nothing was going to keep me away from its more exotic sister event, the SL Fantasy Faire. Nine sims of phantasmagorica all laid out in a circle of seduction meant that I was going to hit this thing harder than Chris Brown. And I did it too, and I'm stoked to report that this year there are so many goodies around for the guys that I ran out of money before I ran out of stores.

Yes, I was one of those kids who was bullied at school. Constantly, for almost all of my childhood years. It's not until you grow up that you start to realise that hey, maybe being different in any way is a good thing and should be cherished and nurtured - not something to be ashamed of. But you'll read similar stories all over the feeds today. So I'm not going to drown out the message with my usual torrents of clever words or attempt to impress anyone with my style savvy.

This is just Winter Jefferson stepping forward to say that I support the message of Pink Shirt Day, and the parent that stands behind him pledging to make a difference by raising my children to know what's right.

Mono Tones

So I've mentioned on this blog before that when I'm bored or uninspired I set myself style challenges - you'd be surprised how much ennui you can accumulate over 250 odd years. Around two months ago I bought myself a zebra print waistcoat off Xstreet and decided to use it as the base of an all monochromatic yet interesting stark black and white look, allowing myself no shades of grey at all. Yeah. As it turns out, a helluva lot harder than it sounded at the time, at least to Finickity Vampire who is Finickity. It didn't exactly take me a whole eight weeks of wandering fitfully around the grid bareassed to finish this off, as I've just had a month off SL. But my friend Delora can attest that I've been telling her "Almost done... almost.... neeeeearly finished" in a non-pervy way for at least that long.

The zebra waistcoat was long since ditched as unworkable, but the Striped Pants in the shade Ghost from Schadenfreude were a must. I own these things in pretty much every colour, and still find new ways to wear them after almost two years. I've also turned to Allegory's Oxford shirt in white as I love the collar on these things. Muism bought out vests this week, and they are really well made - the absolute minimum of shoulder bleed, which on the male av is inescapable. The textures and wrinkles are also really well done, and it's long enough to cover the waistband of my pants which is important. Nothing shortens the torso more than a midriff top on a guy. Muism also has an interesting range of prim ties, and this zebra one let me bring a bit of Africa back into my look.

As soon as I saw the Docs by Gospel Voom of Gos on the feeds the day they were released in March I knew that they must be mine. And so they were. These are total realism in a shoe, a zoom in reveals just how lifelike they really are. Gospel created an innovative colour system when he made these - you buy a base colour of your choice for a set price. Then if you want to expand the colours; you purchase a tin of shoe polish, wear it - and it adds that to the boots as an option for future use. It saves on clutter in your inventory, and there's a terrific range already available with more on the way. So far I have this cowhide, black, green, red and purple uppers, yellow laces and the Union Jack for just the toecaps. And I keep... going... back.

Crazy Arsed Hair Hunt. Was there ever a more awesome concept? Why, no - of course not. I haven't done a hunt in ages, maybe a year? But this one was just forty stops long, and it was chock filled with follicular win. I even finally found the inworld location for >>Griddie<<, a previously XstreetSL only store which I talked about here. honestly couldn't tell you which of the prize hairs was my favourite, but this one Bonionio by Booperfunk! was the best one for my outfit today. I've modded it a little, it's actually made with a skull mask that covers the face. but... to cover this face, I mean hello??? When I did a review of the Eito skins by Den Dou in December I showed off the gacha ones, but the single one I missed photographing was this one, number seven which is named "Bandit Boy." So sue me - when you are this old occasionally minutiae slips through. I can remember who I had for breakfast one morning in July 1887 but stuffed if I can tell you where my car is parked right now.

Finishing touches - and yes, I know this is a very talky talky post, it's been a while so bear with me, okay? (Plus I happen to know that a particular someone hates my wordiness, and I enjoy giving her something to plurk about.) These black legwarmers are an old freebie from *Henusaki*Love*Creations and I've modded a copy of them into armwarmers too. I've boosted the stripedyness with these hand things from Acid And Mala creations over black fingerless gloves. And I never forget how important eyes are to any of my ensembles, so I turned to these brilliantly striped Flare ones from Sterling Artistry. I'm a profile perver, and the creator walked past me at the Pose Fair. Within minutes I was stalking his store - why not, he also has cookies - but not before leaving with the Ball Pit Pose Set by BellaGrace Baroque of Olive Juice. It comes with 11 inbuilt poses - some of which I've used here - and is mod, so you can mess with the colours as much as you like. I'm sure the balls were perfectly spherical, but SL has been hating all over me for days so even with my LOD on 8 this was as good as I got.

So there, one of my rare OCD LOTD's. And now you know why I never post them, they usually end up taking a week and costing something like 10k by the time I'm happy with it. And at least three reshoots. But I figure I can't go wrong if I just throw my balls onto the feed, right?

It Isn't Easy

So it's been a while since I blogged, and even LONGER since it's been an LOTD. I don't think I've managed one this year actually - being dead busy I've been vacillating between business wear and cyber couture. And if you don't know why then get the hell off my page now. It's also been a lack of inspiration - not because of the wonderful creators of SL of course, but I've been lacking that spark.

Until today.

Several weeks ago I joking begged on plurk for someone to make Lady GaGa's Kermit Jacket that she wore for a interview on German TV. I actually ordered Milla Michinaga of MichaMi to get onto it, but it seems as if Ash's Trash beat her to it. All the more reason I love Fashcon spam; there's some amazing treasures buried in amongst the rubble. Ashleey claims to have all the Britneywear that anyone could want; but I went after the notice said that she had six GaGa outfits all at 1l. No, I'm not a tragic. And you can tell this by reading my poker face.

A system jacket comes with; but I'm just covering my Belleza Thomas skin - barely - with Rotten Toe's tintable Cinema Strange shirt and gloves. Pants took me a while, I shuffled through a hell of a lot of my inventory... which is why this is getting posted 3 hours later than I intended... and it eventually regurgitated the Miamai Cydonia Pants. Yes, they are for girls. Does any of this post look like the height of masculinity to you?

Okay, so the HoC Chucks pass muster on the XY front. I can't say enough good things about this store - they turn out top quality shoes at under 100l with multiple colour options, and that's mad good value. I'm also working on replacing all my Exile hair one by one - Kavar has brought out new textures and they are SO GOOD. This is my fave Akio, I have problems taking this off. You can see the depth in his shading now, hell you can almost count each individual strand.

All it took to finish this off was the charmingly Engrish named Flog Ring from Love Soul; I've had this thing for almost two years now. And to try restrain myself from finishing up with that joke about what's green and smells like pork...?

Huh, looks like I didn't restrain myself that well after all.

'Ili Hana no'eau

In my regular stalking of the prettiest ladi - uhhh.. I mean, as I catch up on the well written and photographed blogs of the day I usually stop by Ashia Tomsen's site, Inventory Epis ode. This week I was horrified to see that she had been holding out on me - fantasy skins! And really, really good ones! The store is Terra's Bodyart and it holds an array of seamless wonders. From the sim name - Waitangi - and this beautiful polynesian/maori skin, I'm guessing she has an Islander background. I'm not doing so great with the words today, so I'll just throw a few pictures at you. This skin named Tribal comes in just this shade for the guys, but three for the ladies.

Another thing she's mastered is incredibly sexy cyborg skins. To my dismay they are currently only in female versions, so I dragged over my best friend and co-writer on this blog Summer Deadlight, pointed at the vendor and told her that she needed to own it. Luckily she agreed, or I'd have had to find a way to slip it inside her inventory when she wasn't looking.

This style is the Gold Goddess, it also comes in silver and chrome. You get the skin, as well as the clothing layers in this super high resolution.

I'm a sucker for tattoos, always have been - and I thought these Yakuza slash Carnivale skins were awesome. The women's version especially were great value, from what I saw you got around 10 different styles in the pack.

Be aware - there are no demos instore. But there isn't really any way you could wear something this... transformative and still expect to look like yourself. The prices ranged from 250 up to 600, so it's worth having these in your inventory for a day when you want to be a beautiful freak.

Yes, the colours really are this vibrant inworld, and they are all so genuinely seamless that they make Ashia "happy in her no-no place". My no-no place had to miss out though... you think I could possibly have found a way to tint it to match?

I'm trying to cut down on how wordy my posts are when I'm doing a skin review, because they gobble up a great deal of feedspace. But that's okay with this new one. It's Thomas by Belleza, and it does a LOT of speaking for itself. I also promised a lot fewer shots of my backside, but... the last few commenters have howled at me to free the ass again, so here it is. You all have Gidge to thank for the fact that I'm not wearing a leopard skin thong or a golden ribbed crotch leech in these pics, so be nice to her next time you see her.

A lot of you will have had a taste of Thomas due to the recent Le.Look! first birthday celebrations. I loved it right away. It's ultra realistic as is a hallmark of Belleza, but I found this face really interesting. It's a mature face, the forehead is lined and the eyes are bit pouchy, which is a fascinating feature and one that I've haven't ever seen in another skin. I actually feel my real age in this skin - and nope, so not telling you what that is. In my usual skins I look like a teen, this one is a fully virile adult man - rawr!

The options on this line are really kind of daring, as there are twelve facial hair options with each of the five tones. If it grows out of your face, then it's available. The bandito moustache of number eight was an instant fave with me. Just in case I ever want a second career as a porn star.

This was the medium tone, and my choice for my usual wear. It ranges from pale, medium, sunkissed, tan and deep tan.

And all of these are again available in the Eyeliner option, which of course I made a beeline for.

You need more options? Okay. Chest hair or no chest hair?

And now you can add up all these skins and double them again as each one comes with a bald or hairbase option. I tried counting, but I'm too pretty to have to think in things like numbers.

I think Thomas will explode in popularity like the Belleza Miguel release of March, and that's a good thing because there isn't many mature skins for men on the market, except for Pulse and Signature - that I know of, anyways. And surely none that have this large freckle above the eyebrow. You just know that the ladies are going to try to touch it. Or at least tell you that you look a little worn out, and it's time to hop into their bed. Unless that only happens to me...?

Add Mire

So somehow I stumbled across a clothing store named "Mire - Gentlemans Apparel." I don't even know how I managed it in hindsight, perhaps one too many Bloody Marys (Hold The Mary) on New Years Eve. But this place was like a cavern of wonders, and by that I mean it had suits and tuxedos in many beautiful colours. I started shaking - more so - and sprayed around a great deal of my available cash. Less words, moar pictures eh?

This is Urbane In Green. It's so rakish, and the autumnal colours play off each other so well.

It was my favourite find at Mire, but I also loved this.

This was Monarch in Grey, and it's a really elegant cut with fang tails. Of course, that's kinda hard for me to go past.

The grey came with this turquoise waistcoat, but there are more for sale in terrific jewel tones and neutrals. One think I loved about the vest is that there are no corners cut; no rough edges at the sleeves as you so often see due to the mesh.

Then we had Magnate.

Yes this comes with the bowler, and a great deal of the swagger that you see in these pics was already in the box.

Of course a treasure like this doesn't come by too often, and so I had to port Achariya Maktoum over to come and drool as well. Her choice was the Tartan Suit in Brown.

Yes, her pics are on a black background whereas mine are grey. Why, you ask? What, you read this blog and expect consistancy and great production values? Still?

I took her shots and got to mine a day and a half later, and then realised my suits were too dark against a black background. And she'd logged off for the night - sorry Ach! Make it up to you next time, promise.

So a quick overview of Mire, and a promise that there is more in store. All these items are available in a great range of colours, so if you like the cuts but the shades are too out there for you don't be worried. They come in black as well.

Skin Review - Eito by Den-Dou

I received my first ever Den-Dou skin "Ichiro" as part of the Le.Look! stylist gig that I was selected for in February, and I'll admit... I didn't take to it right away. It was a really well made skin, I could see that, but it simply wasn't me. So it languished in the bowels of my inventory until August when I accidentally put it on again, and stuffed if I know what happened over that time but this now it was instant and faithful love. It was adopted as my everyday skin, and of course I filled out the gaps by buying all the others in the Ichiro range. Plus the Jiro, the Sabura, and the Vampire - well, duh. The October release of Rock, Goro and 7 was leapt upon eagerly, but I wasn't keen on these at all as I found the lips too wet, so I actually left without buying any. Last week M4ri1yn announced the release of Eito on his blog, and I tentatively tried it on - holy crap! I fell, and boy did I fall hard.

The lips are so perfect, I barely have words. The brows and the nose are amongst the best I've seen here, and put it all together and I found my new me. I bought the fatpack and haven't regretted it for a second; however I wasn't planning on blogging them as a feature, merely slipping them into my regular posts by stealth. That was until I saw Achariya's post on the special edition gacha versions which are transfer - trans skins omg! - and although I was supposed to be headed for my coffin I logged back in as an alt and ran to the store hyperventilating. Ummm... two k later, we have a blogpost!*

These are the regular skins that come in the Eito fatpack, my chosen tone is Ochre. There are three darker than this, and surprisingly two paler. I'm finding that this line is pinker in tone than previous releases, those ones tended to skew more yellow. Each skin comes with a bald and a hairbase option, a trend in men's skins that I love, and one that seems to be popping up more and more for the girls as well. There are fairly standard options such as a clean face, stubble, goatee, a full beard and of course it wouldn't be a Den Dou skin without guyliner. The two surprising inclusions in this line is this GREAT one named Insomnia, which features tired red rimmed eyes and a discreet five o'clock shadow, yet still manages to be as sexy as all hell. And this Freckles option, which reduces my usually boyish looking av to an age of around thirteen. (To match my maturity level, no doubt.) So I thought I'd do my full body shots in this one and make people squirm.

These aren't skins for the ruggedly masculine, if that's what you are looking for then I recommend the Signature Skin Lab line of John Paine, the Abyss skin Adam Crius, or wait for the Belleza Thomas release which is imminent. These are softly drawn yet still well defined. The collarbone and clavicle have a great shape, the chest and abdomen are very much in evidence yet not overly ripped, and the musculature across the shoulderblades and down the back is realistic and correct. And I've decided to go against type here and throw a skinblog at you without an ass shot - think of it as a New Year's resolution, I shall not show quite so much butt on the feeds. Nope, all skin posts from now on are going to feature full frontal tackle shots instead.

Then we have the gacha special skins, which are 200l per play. Totally worth it if you like something different. And "something different" is what I'm all about. My fave of all of these is this gorgeous liquid silver skin, none of the shading or features are lost with it's alchemic transmutation to wearable mercury. Yes, I know mercury is a lethal posion, but I'm already dead, remember? It just gives me a headache for a few days. The gold isn't far behind in my skinlust, not only does it tweak all kinds of my kinks but it's great for those days when there's just nothing left to do but give up and be a Bond Girl. (You'd be surprised how often that happens.) There's also multicoloured demons, and this too damn cute for words kitten skin. And a surprise inclusion of the clean Eito skin, look for number nine to pop up. I assume it was supposed to be an ultra rare, but I got three of them.

So this was the skin post I wasn't actually going to do, but Denchu Dench's wanton use of colour and creativity gave me no choice in the matter. And I don't normally stuff my skin reviews with quite this many words, but my sadistic employers have me working till the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve. So this is my revenge - a half assed job whilst I ramble on about digital skins instead of doing the stuff I get paid real life dollars for. That'll teach them to employ me and help me house and feed my family...

*(Minus skin number 7, DAMN you gacha machine! Anyone want to swap one for a 3 or a 9?)

Quick and Dirty Skin Post - Dutch Touch

Iki Ikarus of Dutch Touch has released male skins. And they feature the same eyebrows that rocked the grid with her Cleo female release in September. I zoomed to the store upon log in, and was rather taken aback at how great value they were. For 1k you get 8 skin options with a hairbase, and differing facial hairs as well as the vendor shape. It took me a while to work up my own face to suit the skins, but I'm really glad I made the effort. They are rather incredibly win.

There are two different faces, this is the younger face Nik in Olive, which actually looks older on me in my opinion. Because I just have to be difficult, obviously. Of the two I can say that I would get more casual wear out of this one.

This is the other face, Mace in the Cream tone.

As you can see they feature the same well defined body.

For me, Mace took a lot more adjusting to suit my incredibly annoying lip shape. I stopped when I found this face though. It looks worried, and I found that quite an interesting one. It's an expression that I'm wearing a lot these days as the work I need to do for the Rezzable show is intensifying, so I can pace back and forth muttering with more verisimilitude in this.

These are the only two tones currently available, but according to my top sekrit source (Strawberry Singh) there will be more released in the new year, these are more of a preview release. Don't let that put you off though, they are top quality skins and well worth the price, especially if you've ever considered making a M-alt.

Hybrid Deities

I've been a Fallen Gods fanboi from the day dot - yes, I know... I'm a fanboi of a lot of people, aren't I? But there's just something about exotic and surreal skins that pushes my button more than most things. Alia Baroque creates skins that are so fantastical that it never occurred to me to want them until I see them on the vendors and instantly MUST possess them. And the new release is a set of skins named "High Breeding" - an intepretation of what happens when the gods of the animal kingdom mate with humans. So far three of the series of four have been released.

And of those this is my absolute favourite, Scales. Sure I hate snakes in real life - I live in Australia, here that's a very healthy phobia to have - but these are glorious. The details and the gloss of it made me glee. This particular ophidian delight is the Terra shade with the Arcanum facial makeup.

This next one is simply named "Hybrid" with no clues as to which phylum it's a crossbreed with - personally I'm going with Elf. This features the amazing musculature that's a hallmark of Fallen Gods skins.

This is the Corruption makeup on the gold skin, and I love the fierceness of this face.

This last one was the hardest for me to shoot, because... well it's called Fur, but it's a werewolf. The very antithesis of my vampire kind, and my ectomorph build doesn't look in the least lupine. So I had to borrow a shape to do it at least some justice. Because it is a really great skin, the matted hair across the chest looks genuine and three dimensional.

This one has a special hair that goes with it; MissAllSunday Lemon of Wasabi Pills collaborated with Alia to make this Werewolf hair. It comes with the head and chest tufts, and also has a feminine option. Best of all you get all colours for the cost of just one.

The final one in the series will be named Feathers. Alia has been working on it for a while, but being such a perfectionist it's been scrapped and sent back to the drawing board several times over. I've been waiting somewhat impatiently for this Leda-esque masterpiece, but I can wait... if I have to... It's going to take even longer because Alia is also making something for the Rezzable 2010 show - yes, shameless cross posting FTW! If you are as impatient as I, you could always breed your own, I guess. I'm sure Sion could script an Xcite function if he wanted...

I can even deal with this "thing" you have about wearing your underwear outside your pants. It's Second Life, I see stranger things than that having group sex in my skybox when I log in.

Just an AO, and shoes that attach to the feet rather than MS Paint themselves over it. I've stuck to the lips theme that you have goin' on as well. See? In full respect, oh Former Dark Overlord of Way Too Many Hours Of My Day.

I totally get the fact that you have "your look," I tend to stick to one myself. And there's the whole complicated not being able to endorse any one particular designer by wearing their items alone. But we have things called Inspection Shields now, and they are apparently effective in hiding the clothing creators. Apparently.

So do it for us, Mr Rosedale. See how nice you can look for just a few lindens? And if it's too much, then hey - just create more! Do it for the Fashionistae of SL who love and support you even though you've kinda gone. Pleeeeeasee?

CheerNo Destiny recently rebranded from a.C Store to the more eponymous "CheerNo." Well known for his outre takes on male fashion, especially gay clubwear, his clothes have been riotous, daring and above all different. I own a few of his earlier pieces, but I have to admit that the last two collections Montage and Madame did nothing for me, Montage in particular I just didn't "get" at all. But... Deuil, the new Winter release... wow. Yeah, it totally grabbed my attention from what I saw on the feeds, espesh this post of M4RI1YN's showing the Luz Devina set. So I checked it out. And I LOVED it. I've stopped myself at just two ensembles for now, but I'll probably end up clearing the collection out, piece by piece.

This is Mortiferra. Elegant grey tweed pants gothed up with this Marilyn Manson print gauze shirt - and yes, I want to be him when I grow up - enswathed with black tulle around the waist, shoulders and face.

This is glam-emo-goth at it's finest, in my opinion. It would have been too obvious and too easy to go with black leather pants - and he didn't. There are so many pieces in this that I'll be tearing apart and putting with other outfits, but I'm also happy to wear this out of the box. That doesn't happen often.

And this is Breack. Not a typo, although I keep self-editing it. There were two similar suits in the Deuil collection, and I went for the darker one.

I have a mad lust for pinstripes, have had my whole life. This features a charcoal broad striped pant, and very structured shoulders. The oversized cuffs are also made of glee. And check out the realism on those buttons!

Not all suits in SL have to be the full on heavy business dealio or a formal tuxedo; it's really hard to find an urban dressy-yet-laid back set. This was just what I had been looking for. Savvy yet not trying too hard.

Looking back over the last year's CheerNo / a.C Store's collections I get it now - they have all been vastly different. I know that I haven't been the "target audience" as I saw it described on another blog once, but I've never let any kind of labels define how I dress. (Or who I am, really.) It seems as if CheerNo is going to use his label as an exploration of his abilities, tastes, talents and inspirations and damned what anyone in fashion thinks of it. I think that's brilliant. And maybe I'll never wear the Dancing in the Rain set I bought that Dancien looks so fab in here, but I'll watch as each collection comes in. And cheer just a little if there's absolutely nothing in it I'd be caught dead in.

She was laughing her backside off at me a week ago when I walked past her and bought pack after pack of her latest one Kyler without bothering to try it on. Skin Feature - Vaelian by The Plastik

I've been a mad fan of Aikea Reiko's work for ages, and have blogged her items quite a few times on these pages in various LOTD's. Her store used to be named Tokeo Plastik but is now simply "The Plastik." She makes clothes, eyes, ears, accessories and shoes for humans and furries. And recently branched out into skins. Her Bael skins for the ladies showed some of the most imaginative and breathtaking make ups seen in SL ever. And when she released a group notice mentioning she would be making male skins as well.... guess who was instantly all up in her inbox begging her to make these as creative as the females? She always intended to, but the poor lady had to deal with me hanging around her store moaning "Are they here yet? Are they here yet?" Now they are, and oh my god... they are SO good! You may have already guessed that this won't be an objective kind of review. As I loved them as soon as they spawned.

Less words in this one, as it's quite picture heavy. I've been told that certain people think it's annoying when I write novels. So expect a lot more of those in future.

The face is really well shaded - look at that jawline, no dirty shadows at all. There also isn't any blockiness around the nose, which is rare in a male skin. Most skins don't suit me because of the lips, but these are soft and a good shade - not so pale that they disappear, but not rosy enough to make it look like I've forgotten to wipe after feeding. the light around those and up the philtrum gives it a three dimensional look, lifting it out of the flatness of a lot of skins. The brows are delicate and realistic, to the point where if you were bored you could count the individual hairs in each one.

The body is quite softly drawn. A lot of men - especially those that would love these makeups - don't want to look super steroid ripped, and these abs and pects are good for that. Defined, but not exaggerated. The throat/neck/collarbone is also not forgotten, with the same light yet clear shading that you can see extends to the backbone and shoulderblades. And just look at that ass! I usually am.

I wear a light tone myself as I don't go out into the sun and the Ember was perfect for that. There are five different flesh tones available in the human Vaelian range. I'm showing these with the Violet Poetry makeup.

All tones feature the same range of makeups, and holy crap - you haven't seen anything like these in men's skins EVER. Finally, finally someone who gets it. We are just as different as you ladies. A lot of dudes would never wear skins like this. A lot will. But either way, it's so damn good to finally get somewhere near the choices that the girls have. Until recently men's "makeups" have only been Clean. Stubble. Goatee. Moustache. Soul Patch. Beard. Guyliner. And that's on the more adventurous skin designers. Yeah, I know Jefferson - get off your soapbox and show more skins.

The part where it gets even better is that Aikea made Elven skins and released them at the same time. The colours on these are so very, very win. Here's just half a dozen of the twenty odd shades she has sparkling on her wall. You get the ears included in two shapes which is a huge relief, as I'm sure they'd be a nightmare to try and tint otherwise.

There are also even six makeup options in each of these tones as well. I can't seriously imagine how long this would have taken her. Looking over the walls at The Plastik there would be a good eight hundred different options between all the tones, makeups and colours.

It was a very good week for men's skins, I counted releases from seven different creators. I'm catching up on all of them slowly but surely. But I can mention that none were anticipated by me more than these, and they did not disappoint. Try some on yourself. They may not be what you are used to, but this is Second Life, remember? And all that guyliner will scrub off in seconds.

Shiki Hoodies and Jeans

Shinichi Mathy was one of the first to bring colour, light and air to the menswear scene in SL when Shiki first debuted around 18 months ago. He mixes his Tokyo aesthetic with occidental style, and presents it to us in an array of hand drawn yumminess. I bought one of his first items when it was released, the Bouquet shirt. I had to, it was bright pink. I've returned regularly ever since and watched the quality of the work improve, and so I made sure that I snuck into a front row seat at the Shiki Fall/Winter 2009 collection show by KMADD on the weekend. I was really pleased to note that although Shiki's styles have matured as a design house, they still retain the irreverent glee of those first few mustard coloured safari suits.

The texturing has advanced to a degree where you can almost pull at the nubs in the wool, or rub the suede up the wrong way accidentally then curse as you spend the next half hour attempting to smooth it down again. And the colours Shiki have used have lost none of their impact, from brick red to pine green to this mad kaleidoscopic mashup on the hoodies. I'll just toss some photos at you now of a few random selections from across the new range. My absolute personal fave was the Down Collared Jacket, which is completely prim. These are usually a nightmare to resize and to work with an AO, but I was stoked to see that it fit perfectly right out of the box. And being all prim it doesn't take up any precious clothing layers - yay! I also breathed a sigh of WANT all over the denim suit, which I rushed to buy afterwards then spent ten minutes dithering over a choice of charcoal and orchid pink. Hmmm... maybe this is why Shinichi thought I was a girl...?

Shiki Designs run the gamut from swimwear, casuals, cocktail and evening wear. This is most of the men's F/W collection, and the ladieswear is just as bright and even more glamorous. It features traditional Japanese motifs such as cranes and orchids, but with a contemporary style in the tailoring.
And its bright, it's beautiful and you will find something that you love. These are review copies, sure - but by the time they got to me I had already bought quite a few of the items myself. So this is a genuine recommendation and one that I should have made ages ago. Poke me next time I overlook something so long, okay?

Do My Blog Hits Increase If I Use The S Word In My Post?

My friend JDiva Ophelia - or as I call her when I'm being flippant "The Lady of the Domino" has run the store Masquerade Parade since 2006. Her work just keeps getting better and better, and she's come up with a great idea for Halloween. She's selling boxes of masks in ten - all transfer, so you can hand them around at your parties. This one is the Bat in Silver, there are several different styles both femme and masculine. And the brand new release from Allegory Malaprop of Schadenfreude suits it perfectly I thought, a redux edition of last year's Strigoi suit.

I am loving all over this, the cartoony bat motif extending to the lapels of the jacket, and the sculpty bat tie nestled at my throat. It's just too me for words. I wonder if I can bleach it white though...?

The top hat comes with, and you get several jacket options as well. I was fluttering around in this all day pretending to be one of my childhood heroes. Not admitting who it was though - one! One recalcitrant vampire! Ha ha ha haaa....

This is another of her new items, the Bloody Death Mask. I was an instant fan of this, it amplified my Bowie-itude by ten as soon as I put it on. Yes, that is an actual concept with universal degrees of measurement. Look it up.

If you know me at all, you'll know that I'm a sucker for a tuxedo. Any well made suits really, but this Fifth Anniversary Tux from Swafette Firefly of SF Designs made me drool as soon as I saw the ruby red of the brocade. And vampire saliva is corrosive, so to do everyone a favour I laid burning tracks to the store to grab this. It wasn't till the next day that I realised I now had the most win combination EVER with this mask. This suit also comes in gold and sage.

Even better than this is the fact that the shoes are included, a terrific pair of crimson and black loafers. My first ever tuxedo came from SFD, and at least seven of them since. I think they are yet another one of the stores that's been around so long people forget that they exist, and are making great clothing that just keeps improving. Congrats on hitting five years, Swaffette.

So here's two options for the men if you are considering going to a high end Halloween ball. It's sad that we don't get any leeway under the famous Slut Rule, but hey.. if you turn up looking this good then you may get some benefit from it after all, right?

Ravens Misbehavin'

Yeah, I know I know- the feeds are super saturated with the Designers United goodies at the moment. But I'm chipping in for two reasons. Firstly, the only other guy that I've seen take a stab at it is Dakota. And secondly, I have a very special reason to love everything to do with ravens. And that reason was beating me on the back of my head with her fairy wand when she saw the other crow items on the feeds, demanding that I go get some "wavenburdy" things myself. That's pretty hard to argue with, especially when I didn't really want to.

There were a few unisex items, and I grabbed those happily. These horn... head... ear... "thingys" called My Tree of Crows by Milk Motion were on the must have list. Spooky trees that emit tiny crows that wheel and whirl about your face. For most people this would be annoying, but for an Aussie constantly brushing black things away from your face is a sweet taste of home. I also yoinked the Feathered Mask from Glow Studio, setting it over the top of my Den Dou Saburo skin. I could not look more typically vampire emo if I tried.

But try I did with this pose from [LAP] and the Feathered Backpack by Chabinn, a design house I had never heard of until now. I loved this, and I actually felt bad only paying the measley 30l that the creator was charging for all four sizes. As soon as you strap this on your arms get flung out wide to match the wingspan, indulging both Icarus fantasies and putting "I Believe I Can Fly" in your head for a good hour. And that's only after you've finished humming that damn song about heroes and wind that I won't admit to knowing any of the words to.

There were male tattoos at the event as well, but I reluctantly walked past those as my inventory is saturated with more skin ink than I ever really get a chance to wear. There was one other overtly masculine item that stood out though, the Mr Crowe suit from Balaclava. And luckily it's really, really good. The jacket is a well textured suede with dark metal button detail. And it features a fairly dramatic high knitted collar, which I know that I'll also be able to put to good use mashing with other outfits. One of the things that I'm eternally searching for here is well made black dress pants, and these are amongst the better ones I've found. They aren't so dark that the grain of the fabric gets lost, yet black enough so I can wear them with almost anything up top. I'd pay more for either the jacket or the pants alone than I paid for this whole ensemble. Very nice, Mr Balaclava person. Make more things like this soon, please. It also comes with three sizes of top hat, but I wanted to have twigs sticking out of my skull for this blog.

The inaugural Designers United event of Jellyfish just wasn't to my taste - I like my jelly with girls pulling each other's hair in it - but the Crow theme was a terrific idea with a wider appeal, and it was really interesting to see the scope that could be attained within this concept. So feathers may make your ARC skyrocket to unimaginable levels, but as long as you aren't planning on waltzing around Hair Fair or something like that, it's totally worth it. It took something like this to get me off my arse and blog again after two months off. Designers of SL take note, please. Winter has a very short attention span, and needs the pretties.

Random Bits Of Goodness

So this isn't a coherent blogpost, more a highlight of several things that have compelled me to buy them over the last couple of weeks. Yeah, my lindens flow like water but only these things had that siren song of MUST POSSESS no matter the cost. Like this tattoo...

This is "Autumn Koi" by the frighteningly talented people of Seven of Himeji. I'm not a brown kinda guy - I leave that to Elusyve, who almost had a seizure when she saw this. But of all the glorious ink there, this one called me the most. It wasn't cheap. But it was so damn good I had to have it.

This mad Sideshow Bob type hair is by Griddie and sadly they don't have an outlet inworld. I found it on Xstreet SL, demoed a whole bunch of these hairs and spent ages following up the creator. The creator's picks. The creator's groups.... at one point I think I was talking to her mother-in-law to find a store, but nope - its only on Xstreet. Nuts. At least that way I can randomly gift my friends with follicular insanity.

Oh yes, it's true. I DO have balls of steel. I just retracted them in the interests of taste.

This was found at the Sci-fi/Fantasy Faire back in June. And I knew I wanted it. It was only just now that I managed to convince myself that yes, I did need it, I did deserve it, and it was better off in the loving home of my inventory. It's the Galaxus skin by NM/MD. You can dress it up, of course. But I figured it was best shown in it's full glory, plus it's bonus points if I can sneak in a second ass shot in one blog.

I'm also a sucker for eyes. I've mentioned this a few times. And I think Aemilia Case of Philotic Energy knew this, she sent me over a chunk of her new line. She will be selling these under the label *Fusemelon* because apparently no one can spell "Philotic." YES, they were given to me. But I instantly adored them so much they are now my everyday eyes. I've been wearing the same daily ones for over a year now, and it needed something drastic to shake me off them. These are it. Remember that I don't blog what I don't love.

Opal. These really do look like the gemstones, the facets are amazing. The light painted into them is so realistic.

Fusemelon. The flagship of her new brand, these eyes are sure to have someone who is obsessed with watermelons all over them. Do we have anyone like that in SL?

Fire. There's about a dozen different colours going on here. I love the super dark ring around the iris, and the way that the sclera aren't that blinding flat white. There is a range of plainer eyes as well, and all of them have the base eye and prims, with a glow and a non-glow option. Perfect for pictures, and as you can see the closer in the better with these.

So - yeah. Open inventory, take pics, fling them at the general public. This is as much as I managed this time around. It's Sunday morning, you lot are lucky I'm even out of bed. Moar better writings and collations and stuffs next time, I swear.

So I haven't seen the actual chat logs, but from what I can piece together from Achariya gigglefitting all over my inbox before a package arrived from Dark Eden - it must have gone like this.

And then she would have cackled with malevolent laughter, stroked her cat's fur and ordered more sharks with frickin' lasers on their heads. Or something. The one sop to my ego was the afternote of "If any guy can pull it off, it's you." Humph. Most pageant competition winners get disgraced when they take their clothes off for pictures. But if you know anything about me you'll know that I never back away from a challenge. I'll do my best to avoid it - (Dancien, my pony boy tail is still at the cleaners, I swear. It'll be back for Melbourne Cup Day.) But enough stalling with this. I present to you a Winterised version of the Toxic Fey set from Dark Eden, a 2009 redesign of the famous Bondage Faeries set.

This is the "Bone" colour, and I decided with a grin it was the most fitting one for a man. Espesh with the loincloth. It comes with a bikini top and a g-string, but luckily I was permitted to not wear those - as well as the nip covers. I added just a touch more coverage down below with my Bare Rose briefs. (Yet one more reason the grid has to be grateful to June Dion.) And damnit, if I'm going to do this as part of my reign then I deserve to wear a crown.

Elusyve told me that the faeries needed to be pulled out of my crotch. Funnily enough, not the first time I've been told that.

And I also think the poor creatures drew straws to see who had to take the back of the loincloth.

All jokes aside, this is whimsical wonder of a set. Both in imagination, and execution. The bindings are so detailed, the fae's bodies are in great proportion and these locks are ultra realistic. So it's not meant for a man - I'd be better off picking up ColeMarie and duct taping her across my groin, but the particles would tickle. However it was really easy to fit, and in several cases the different sizes included meant that they already fit perfectly. (Time to hit the steroids, I think.)

It comes in 8 different colours, and will look a LOT better on you than it does me.
Just... trust me on that. Now excuse me whilst I find something to dislodge this faewedgie. I think the poor creatures have suffered enough.

Purple Reign

Whilst I was running around like a headless chicken an hour before the last Swansong show on Monday something dropped in from Fashcon that literally stopped me in my tracks. I dropped everything - those models just had to do up their own lingerie - and floated to LeeZu in cloud of WANT. So I only got to open the damn box today, but in that time.. oh yes, the love had not diminished one iota.

Look at this thing - it practically glows. That's no funky PS effect or some Windlight setting from Torley's most fevered dreams - that's how it actually looks.

It took me a while to find pants and boots that did this work of beauty justice - but I found the Sailor boots at Drack Diesel's Arcavim, and the Open Low Rise Leather pants from Swaffette Firefly's SFD Designs. The gloves are from YV, a newish store with ultra realistic accessories.

I also used this as an excuse to get the Sabura skin in Chaos from Den-Dou that I had been promising myself. I wasn't a fan of these skins, I've had Ichiro in my inventory since March and never felt it suited me. I put it back on 10 days ago, and holy crap - I don't know what happened in the meantime but now I can not take them off. And I stopped off to check out my friend Cerdwin Flanagan's of BLU282's new mainstore and gallery today. And these VitalBlu eyes were just sitting there, waiting for me. Okay, so I don't often do LOTD posts, but this one fell together. And it's not often I make an attempt at sexy vampire, so deal with it.

Oh - and a massive thank you to all those who voted me in as Dark Eden's first ever Guy Of The Month. Too awesome, and together we made history! I'll do my best to not have my crown taken off me in my month, but it will take me a while to size it up properly first...

I wasn't going to do Achariya's John Hughes challenge - I mean, chick flicks UGH. Till I discovered that he wrote Christmas Vacation... and therefore created Cousin Eddy. Somehow he manages to be unique and yet we all know someone just like him - I don't know how it works, it just does. Going For Dark Eden Girl Of The Month

Yes, you read that right. And I'm sure you've spotted the error in that title, eh?

It's usually more like 3 and a bit weeks.

Truth is - I have a compulsion that I need to break down bastions, change the status quo, challenge ideals etc etc. Plus I'm a total attention hor. So recently I set my sights on that grand competition that has been running so long it's now an institution. The Dark Eden Girl of the Month. As the rules state

"Can guys enter?
YES! But there's no special class for guys. You have to compete with the girls and be sexier, more stylish more hot and tempting and juicy than all the other girls that month! Its a tough thing to ask any guy. So far only one (Alushee Essex) has made it to the finals but we're still waiting on our first official Dark Eden Guy. It could be you!"

Thing is that almost everything Dark Eden sells if for the other half of this species. That hasn't ever really stopped me before. So after a good hour of digging, I came up with this.

So it's not the most masculine of ensembles, but it's so very ME. (Shut up in the back row, whaddya say?) I have on the purple latex jacket, ths straps from the Anath set as a harness under that, the Metis belt, and the Phoebus boots, all from Dark Eden.

I'm rocking it with my new love, the Cyberfashionista hair from Digit Darkes. This was available as a freebie from SL6B, but I wanted the complete colour change option so I was more than happy to fork over the lindens. Along with my treasured Corvine skin from eXceSs, something that you'll see in these pages over and over again. With The Hunger fishnet shirt and the leather pants both from SN@TCH. A total staple of mine wardrobe. I have all the colours - including the ones that I begged Ivey to make - and they get dragged out at least 2 days of every week. Leather lust, it's a Vampire thing. Don't try too hard to understand it, just enjoy the view from behind.

I was quite surprised by how little I had to resize these Phoebus boots. Just a small tweak and they were good, it usually takes me ages and several failed pairs before I can get female boots to fit. You'd think this would stop me buying them, wouldn't you?

So I dragged my latexed/leathered/fishnetted/harnessed self off to Templum Ex Obscurum, strapped on my Kris sword and posed, with one eye uneasily on that wolf in the background. I'm not scared of them, I was just hoping it wouldn't come hump my leg. Submitted this shot after showing it on plurk, to the chuckles of many. Including Ran Garrigus, who asked "Aren't you a bit overdressed for a Dark Eden Girl? You are supposed to wear like, a strap. and if it's nippy, two straps." And then... fuck me even deader, if I wasn't chosen as a finalist. So... umm... if you want to vote for me, you can go here. And laugh at the man posed atwixt lovely ladies in latex minidresses.

Hewwwo! Wots of times I been shopping lately I seen wots of kiddies all arguwuing over the vendors, wike Gahum and I heard today at Den Dou... so I thinked maybe it was the new kinda fash'nable thing to do. So this is Widdle Wintah bringing you wot's hot in the kid's world my sissy and bwuvva poos.

First thing you gotta wemember is that you have to have a weally good 'xuse weady for why you are out at night time without Mommy, Daddy or any kind of growed ups. Because you SHOULDN'T BE OUT AT NIGHT IF YOU ARE A CHILD AVATAR. And then you need to forget any knowledge that you have of how 8 year olds WEALLY talk. If you wanna be an SL kiddy you have to speak with a speech impeddy - empeddy - a weally bad wisp.* Okay, so if you were a weal 8 year old who talked wike this you'd be getting speech thewwapy - either that or you'd be getting all beated up evvewy day after skool.

Next thing you need to know is that by being a kid, you have the wight - no, the DUTY to be as naughty as you can manage evvewywhere you go. Big Wintah once was the ministah at a wedding where the fwowah gurl diddun shut the (naughty word for making babies) up the whole time, and the page boi piddled on the pwetty white dwess. Big Wintah had to weally stop himself hard from punting the widdle (naughty word for poo's) into the next sim ovvah. Even though you are weally a growed up, and you'd give your own kiddies a backhand 'kwoss the face if they embawwessed you wike this, it's the only way that normal people will know that you are meant to be a kid and not a hobgobwin or a pixie.

And if you are a gurl - you don't have to give up your skin with wots and wots of make up! You don't even have to give up your boobies! I diddun know 8 year old gurls could have boobies till I started being a kid in SL, but evewwywhere I go I see them with big wacks and short skirts holding their Daddy's hand and begging them to buy the new hair fwom Twuth. I offen see these types of widdle gurls out with their Daddies but not offen with their Mommies. I wonder why that is?

So bois and gurls, this was Widdle Wintah showing you all how much fun you is missing out on. The main thing that I figured fwom being a kid is that its okay to infwict your woleplay upon anyone who is on the same sim as you. So Big Wintah decided that next time he has kiddy avs annoying him, its okay for him to start being a big mean vampy wight back at them and attack their pwecious necks. And wip open their chests, tear out their hearts and toss around their viscerae with a bloodthirsty howl. That's fair, isn't it? Oh yes – and its okay if you wanna post compwaints in the comments, I kinda expect that. Just don't use any mean nasty words.

Because everyone's style - in a world of 2 million people - is so unique and speshul that it should be cherished. And coveted. And protected by any means necessary. ANY MEANS. It's a war out there, oh.... don't ever kid yourself folks. There are dangerous people who will see you and then go out and buy what you have on. So you can't traverse the grid with a team of snarling Dobermanns ready to tear the faces off anyone who dares look at you admiringly. (I think that's planned for the next Release Candidiate.) Until then, there is only one way to protect your innate speshulness from the ravening hordes. It's not safe to step outside your front door.

The Anti-Inspect Shield. It's essential.

I'm wearing clothes from Designer X, there may or may not be pants and a shirt. And there is hair. But you don't get to see it. I don't want you shopping anywhere near where I've been.

It goes with everything I have on, and is perfect for a quiet dinner date, a Tupperwear party or maybe lunch with the girls. I even found it the perfect accessory for evening wear. And partied in it all night long.

So its the perfect shock and awe tactic for protecting your preciousness amongst a crowd of avatars who are all desperately clicking you, needing to know exactly how they can transform themselves into you, steal your identity and jump on your poseballs with your boyfriend.

Because that's what they are doing. Really.

Apology and Retraction.

I owe Helyanwe Vindaloo of Deviant Kitties an apology, and I'm retracting my previous post.

At the time I wrote that blog, I didn't know that Helyanwe and Autumn had exchanged information. All I saw was a friend that was hurt, and with my usual lack of "cold blood" I rushed in doing my usual white knight bit. As misguided as hell, but with the best of intentions. Yes, I'm an asshole. I won't deny it.

I'll also say that Autumn had no idea of what I was doing either, that post was in no way sanctioned or encouraged by her.

Helyanwe, I am very sorry. I wish you all the success of this Hair Fair, and all the future ones.

The Alpha and The Omega

Upon finding Alpha Tribe I was immediately seized with a sense of outrage.

WHY was I never informed about this store???

Upon reaching the complete outfits on the second floor I realised to my shame that Grady had blogged them on Strange Pixels a few weeks ago, and it was my own stupid fault for taking so long to check it out.

Panther Skin

These skins are Eloh mods, yes. But I have never seen anything quite so breathtaking in their artistry, the glosss and sheen of them and just the absolute madness of imagination it would take to decide to spread these designs all over an avatar body.

Flamingo Skin

All these came in a pack that includes both a male and female skin as well as some items of clothing, and boots in the Blackbird one. There are no demos. But take it for granted, there's no way you will look like your everyday self in one of these, so suspend caution and take a leap of faith. These are just some of the designs to be found. There were also an array of complete avatar outfits, this one that I bought was named "Padded," and was a steal at just 250l. That's male and female options in the one pack, right from the skin up.

Alpha Tribe is a collaboration of designers that are led by Alpha Auer, one of the authors of the NPIRL blog. They proudly display the Eloh license with every skin they sell, and mention that they are a young team and would welcome any exposure they receive, as their sales help them continue to provide the free items that I also plundered whilst buying in a slack jawed frenzy.
I'm more than pleased to do so, it's artists like this that make Second Life worth logging into.

There was a niche in male fashion that no one realised was there. That of quailty Wild West styled clothing. Luckily Masa Plympton joined SL, after moving from Italy to the U.S, and bought his art student talents and love of Spaghetti Westerns to us under the label Deadwool.

Jesse James Suit

As you can see... although it is a specialty style of wear, he hasn't skimped on any time or effort at all. These textures made me go gaga the moment I saw them, and I bought one of everything he's released so far. I've been quite happily wearing these as a standalone formal suit for the past few weeks.

It's all priced very reasonably, and Masa is like the nicest dude ever. There is one line of lady's dresses available, and hats in Wyatt Earp style to complete your look. So whether you shot the sheriff or the deputy, ride into town at high noon and check out these amazingly well drawn suits.

There was a fifth. But is it I? Am I programmed to believe that I am a machine that feels as a person... or a human that has delusions of construction?

I won't know until it ends. He retired my sister. And now he's after me.

I think... this is the time to let that happen.

This is the brand new masterpiece from Raven Pennyfeather of House of Rfyre, named "Providence." It's also the sexiest creation I've seen for a long time, and it screamed to me of the future - such a departure from Rfyre's usually classic stance.It boasts a multitude of options, as you can see I'm wearing it in four different configurations. There's enough different layers that you can spend all day finding out what works best for you. Myself, I was entranced with the top option, the straps exposing my chest just enough to break up the lines of the mantle and sleeves.

The textures have the realism that all of Raven's designs show, and the buckles and strapwork is clothing layer, but they are so well done it looks like prims. The pants come in two different styles, and they are very sensibly bootcut as this whole outfit just screams out for kickass boots.

This leather spectacular is also very pieceable, I'll be wearing that vest around quite a lot - and you can strip the dramtic sleeves and mantle, and rock this casually if you prefer. But I'm loving all over it just as it is. So expect to be finding lot of little origami unicorns in a trail behind me whilst I geek out at being a Bladerunner refugee for a few days yet.

Also wearing - all the new male hairs by Wasabi Pills, and the Atomic skin from the Keys to the Grid hunt of several weeks ago.

Arcavim - Diesel Fitter

Yes, I found a designer that pays so much attention to detail, even his packaging and pose stands are beyond awesome. I'm posing in front of them in this picture - its the new store Arcavim by Drack Diesel, a game design student who has brought his skills to SL. He's been a builder for a while, but now he has branched out into this WAY too cool Vernesque/Steampunk inspired clothing line.

To quote from Drack's mission statement "...announces his new store in Second Life, Arcavim, and his Noble Traveler Collection. The Collection is comprised of men’s clothing in a versatile color palette with diverse styles. Elaborate sculpts, many patterns with multiple scripting options pervade the offerings in the Collection. The colors are comprised of mix and match tones of brown, black, grey, and gold with accents of forest, plum, and clay. The numerous interchangeable versions and combinations make for many unique looks for every occasion."

Every piece in this collection had me gaga for the workmanship, the intricacies of the details but most of all the rich textures! The sheen on the Gold Travellers Vest was the thing that had me rushing over there before anything else had rezzed, but I came away with one of pretty much everything Drack sells in the end. I'm enamoured with the palette, and almost everything that has prims on it is scripted to colour change so you can work within this range as much as you like.

The entire clothing line makes an innovative use of sculptys - you don't often come across a swing jacket tail made this way.

At present there is no ladieswear available, but the hats, boots and goggles are certainly unisex - go get 'em, Ach - but it's worth a visit anyway as it's a fascinating build. It's in the hangar of Drack's airship.

This may not be your usual taste or style, but the pieces are all such quality that you need some of this in your inventory. Uh huh. It's the most elegant and well made clothing I've ever seen in this genre, and I'll be happily stalking his store to see how it develops in the future. It'll be interesting to see what sort of video game Drack makes in the end, but he's well on his way to winning SL.
